A Word to the Wise

Apparently I'm not getting all the emails you people are exchanging among yourselves, but from what I gather from your emails to me, you seem to be concerned that this transaction be done as ethically as possible with full disclosure, which is the wise and prudent course to take in such a significant decision -- for everybody, and especially the prospective buyer's satisfaction.  Otherwise, it will be the source of endless future acrimony as well as litigation -- because the objective of any transaction, is the fairness of the deal to all parties, and not ripping off all one's neighbors, friends and relatives -- and then wondering why that society sucks, and nobody can trust anybody else.

One has to be proud of what one does in life -- and not shamed by everything one does, so that one can no longer look another in the eye, and avoid others at every occasion -- as is commonplace in the Islands now.  I knew of one old guy who used to share an apartment with me who had a gain from a real estate transaction with some questionable elements -- the sale of his family home -- for which reason he never fully disclosed and confided to me that made any sense, he was dogged by a relentless paralegal for several years until he lost everything in a court decision, which finally relieved him greatly -- and he remarked that he was never so happy and relieved, that his fortune had been taken from him, because finally he was free of that burden of his fatal mistake, and went on to live happily ever after on just his Social Security, and his first marriage at 65 in modest circumstances.

I know many people in real estate as well as law, think that anything they can get away with is fair game, and that others exist for their exploitation and advantage -- but that creates most of the problems in the world, and all the antagonism and animosity that now makes life in the islands unlivable for everybody.  There's a reason things are that way -- and people think they are entitled to everything they can rip off from everybody else.

So I fully support your efforts to maintain your own sense of integrity in this matter -- as well as others, and stand behind your efforts to do so -- even at a cost of not getting the maximum one can through fraud, deception and misrepresentation.  One has to live in the world with one's own self-respect and dignity -- despite what "everybody else is doing," if in fact everybody else is doing it, or it is just a rationalization for doing what is unconscionable and unacceptable.

Good luck in your efforts to bring honor and justice to everyone you touch.

The Truth of "Education"

All one needs is a very basic education to learn whatever else they need -- and not the whole "liberal arts" programming of the past -- to be viable in life.

Most people will do fine with just arithmetic to solve most of the problems they will encounter -- rather than needing algebra, geometry, trigonometry and latin.  Learning that, only allows them to solve algebra, geometry, trigonometry and latin problems, and not the real life ones that people have no idea how to solve because their education only teaches them to solve "education" (academic) problems.

The best way to learn to read and write, is to get on the Internet forums and read and write -- for the express purpose of communicating with another -- and not all that academic prose to "impress one's peers and colleagues" -- that one is an "educated" person, or even more unproductively, that one is the "most educated" person -- which is probably the greatest waste of human time and energy.

And rather than pimping for the educational-industrial complex that theirs is the only way to learn -- millions of people everyday, get up and learn on their own, the vast majority of what they know -- including the Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Thomas Sowells,  Edisons of the world -- because there is nobody to teach them what they want to know.  And that is the real education -- and not just arbitrarily, what the liberal educators think is so important for everybody else to know -- which  is only what they know, or think everybody else should.

We live in a world now in which infants are learning at one -- how to operate an iPad, and eventually learn to do what nobody else can even imagine thinking possible -- and really what is most cost-effective in education is teaching those basics, and not more advanced specialized knowledge that have little value and reality beyond the classrooms -- as the traditional curriculum everybody still needs to learn before they can move on.

The Crimes of Laura Thielen

Laura Thielen's crimes are that she is an intelligent, competent, articulate, and independent-thinking person in Hawaii -- which is the greatest crime in Hawaii, and all those claiming to be "Democrats," must let the Democratic Party and union leaders do all their thinking and talking for them -- without exception or even the thought of it.

That is unfortunately the curse of Hawaii -- by which the schools and all the institutions of Hawaii, including and especially the press, produce human beings that turn into these monstrous and hideous worm-like beings that do nothing but eat, consume and max out their Cadillac health care plans and "assistance" -- as their distinctive way of life.

As such, she's not a true "representative" of the Democratic Party -- which demands that everybody get in line and stay in their place until their top leader dies and everybody then can move up one spot -- just like in the good old feudal days and rigid hierarchies that they are trying to maintain for all eternity as "Paradise."

I don't think there is any hope for Hawaii -- and Hawaiian to be anything other than the last outpost of serfs -- for the few trying to preserve authoritarian and totalitarian government in the world of increasing freedoms, choices, and independence.  But that doesn't make anyone a bad person who should be exiled from the Islands and participation at the leading edge of thought -- as must be the fate of the best and the brightest to be throw into the volcanoes, so the fat can get fatter, and have no competition for everything -- just as it always has been.

That is Paradise.
